Ensemble


Duo Synaistisìa:

The duo, composed of Cristian Musìo (viola) and Gabriele De Carlo (piano), has been a stable ensemble for several years, dedicated to promoting the masterpieces of the viola and piano repertoire. Our activity is enriched by numerous awards in prestigious international chamber music competitions.


 CURRICULUM VITAE - CRISTIAN MUSIO 
 

Cristian Musio graduated in viola from the "Tito Schipa" Conservatory of Lecce in 2015. That same year, he joined the Italian Youth Orchestra, where he collaborated with internationally renowned artists such as Danilo Rossi, Stanislav Kochanovsky, Dietricht Paredes, Guido Corti, Gianpaolo Pretto, Luca Ranieri, Danusha Waskiewitz, Lorenza Borrani, and others. 

In 2016, he became principal viola of the Orchestra of the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala in Milan, where he was conducted by Zubin Mehta, David Coleman, Michele Mariotti, and others. From 2015 to 2017, he honed his skills under Maestro Antonello Farulli at the Fiesole Music School. In 2017, he made his debut with the "Luigi Cherubini" Youth Orchestra under the direction of Riccardo Muti. 

He has collaborated with the Orchestra of Lecce and Salento (OLES), the ICO Orchestra of Lecce, the ICO Orchestra of Magna Grecia, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Calabria, the Napolinova Youth Orchestra, the Orchestra of the "Nino Rota" Conservatory of Monopoli, the Orchestra of the "G.B. Martini" Conservatory of Bologna, the Orchestra of the New Verdi Theatre of Brindisi, the Lecce Philharmonic Orchestra, and others. 

He has performed at prestigious venues such as Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Auditorium Arturo Toscanini in Turin, Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, the Colosseum, Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, the New Opera House in Florence, and many others. 

Musio is a member of several chamber ensembles, from duos to small orchestras, with which he has accompanied renowned soloists such as Massimo Quarta, Francesco D'Orazio, Pierluigi Camicia, Alessandro Perpich, Carlo Romano, Benedetto Lupo, Francesca Dego, Oleksandr Semchuk, Pasquale Iannone, Emanuele Urso, Marco Piperno, Giuseppe Albanese, Alessandro Deljavan, Massimo Polidori, and others. Among the ensembles he has been a part of, and with which he has earned top positions in various national and international music competitions, are the Primaldo Quartet, Duo Synaistìa, Duo Musìo, Duo Musìo-Licchetta, Trio Leucàsia, Sybar String Quartet, Salento Consort, Rudiae Quartet, and Cameristi di Eleusi, which he founded. 

In 2019, he earned his second-level degree in violin from the "Tito Schipa" Conservatory of Lecce and a first-level Master’s in Narrative Methodologies in Artistic-Musical Teaching from the "D. Alighieri" University of Reggio Calabria. At the same institution, in 2021/2022, he obtained another Master’s in Strategies and Methods of Intervention on Disabilities in Teaching. His focus on education led him to specialize in Teaching Support for Students with Disabilities (TFA V cycle) at the University of Salento in 2020/2021. From 2016 to 2020, he taught viola and String Ensemble at IISS E. Giannelli in Parabita (LE) and at the Palmieri Classical and Music High School in Lecce (2017-2020). 

Since 2020, he has performed across Italy with Maestro Redi Hasa in the original quartet project "The Stolen Cello," gracing prestigious stages such as Parco della Musica in Rome. Over the years, he has participated in various recording projects by different artists. In the summer of 2020, alongside Maestro Gabriele Musìo, he released two albums on the INDIPENDEMO Records label: The 15 Two-Part Inventions by Johann Sebastian Bach, in a version for violin and cello, and The 12 Canons from Opera Prima by Filippo Baroni, adapted for viola and cello. In 2021, he released Enjoy with the IPE IPE MUSIC label, an original project by Maestro Claudio Prima for accordion and string quartet, performing throughout Italy. In August 2024, he 

released Rebecca Clarke with INDIPENDEMO Records, accompanied by Maestro Gabriele De Carlo on piano. 

In 2021, he successfully auditioned for the Benevento Philharmonic Orchestra (section violist and principal viola with obbligato of first and section parts) and for the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari (section violist). 

From 2021 to 2023, Musio was a student of Maestro Antonello Farulli at the International Music Academy of Imola, and in 2024, he attended the chamber music specialization course at the Scarlatti Academy in Naples under the guidance of Maestri Francesco Solombrino, Antonello Cannavale, Ulf Schneider, Alexander Lonquich, and Simone Gramaglia. 

He is currently a tenured professor of violin at the IC B. Antonazzo in Corsano/Tiggiano (LE), is pursuing a master's degree in Musicology and Cultural Heritage at the University of Pavia (Cremona campus), and serves as a member of the artistic committee of the Eleusi APS association, where he produces numerous chamber music festivals, including the International Chamber Music Festival of Capo di Leuca in Salento.
